I do. Not deny.

Thinking I’ll die

Illuminates life

Releasing tears

Acknowledging years.

Thinking I’ll die

Makes me realise

Death isn’t a black hole

It gives breath to my soul.

I am so scared to die

Which is why I try

To pretend

Life will never end.

But bearing thoughts for an hour

Gives me the power

To face the ultimate fear

Becoming crystal clear

About loving you

And how time is true

Encouraging me to say I do…

A depressing, yet so well written opening collection of lines. I wish I had the ability to say so much in so few words – I have a habit of waffling on a bit in my posts. I am still tempted to give poetry a go however.

Do you have any tips? 🙂

Thanks for the feedback. I would say give it a go. Experiment as if you were cooking, painting or playing an instrument. Once you’ve got something out you can see the colours and tones of your reflection and ‘season’ it. Play with words and get a taste for how you like to write in your own way, a little at a time…

Reading poetry or song lyrics helps me too; as does the encouragement to share.
